Chicago Woman Found Guilty of Cocaine Possession
A federal jury has convicted Tashe Goins, 32, of Chicago, Illinois, for her involvement in a cocaine trafficking operation. According to court records and evidence presented at trial, Goins was traveling from Chicago to Pittsburgh on June 16, 2020, when she was stopped by the Ohio State Highway Patrol for a traffic violation on Interstate 80 in Trumbull County.
Officers identified Goins as the sole driver of the vehicle and a police canine unit alerted them to the presence of a narcotic odor coming from inside. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered approximately four kilograms of cocaine hidden inside a blue suitcase. Goins was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the DEA and the Ohio State Patrol. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Yasmine Makridis and Bryson Gillard.
Tashe Goins will be sentenced on January 26, 2022. She faces the consequences of her actions, which have put her and others at risk of harm.
