GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: In a shocking turn of events, ten members of the notorious Tren De Aragua gang have been charged with participating in a racketeering conspiracy and committing multiple violent crimes, including the May 2024 double murder of Claretha LaQuesha Daniels and Justin Lawless in the Bronx.
United States Attorney Jay Clayton, along with top officials from the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, and New York City Police Department, announced the superseding indictment. Among those charged are KEIBER JAEN MARTINEZ, SAMUEL GONZALEZ CASTRO, EFERSON MORILLO-GOMEZ, KEIVER SILVA-JIMENEZ, KEINEYER IBARRA-MUJICA, and MARLON FARIAS.
The suspects were implicated in the brutal slaying of Daniels and Lawless on May 24, 2024, which also left a third victim injured. GONZALEZ CASTRO is also accused of participating in a shooting incident that resulted in injuries to both a rival gang member and an innocent bystander.
Out of the ten defendants, six have prior charges for racketeering, firearms, drug, and sex trafficking offenses. EIGHT are currently in custody, while SILVA-JIMENEZ remains at large. FARIAS was previously removed from the U.S. by immigration authorities.
In a statement, U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton vowed to put an end to such criminal elements: “We are committed to putting cartels, gangs, and others who poison our children and pursue violence as a way of life out of business.” U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the DOJ’s dedication to dismantling Tren De Aragua through any legal means necessary.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem highlighted the gang’s violent nature, saying, “Tren de Aragua is one of the most ruthless terrorist gangs on the planet.” She also stressed that illegal immigrants who break laws in the U.S. will face consequences: “If you are in this country illegally and break our laws, we will hunt you down, arrest you, and you will never return.”
