Danny Miguel Tejada Hernandez, a 29-year-old Dominican national, has been sentenced to 37 months in prison for unlawfully reentering the United States after deportation.
Tejada Hernandez pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien in June 2025, and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Brian E. Murphy. The sentence will be followed by two years of supervised release, and Tejada Hernandez is subject to deportation upon completion of the imposed sentence.
Tejada Hernandez’s troubles with the law began when he was convicted of one count of possession to distribute a Class A controlled substance, two counts of possession to distribute a Class B controlled substance, and one count of distributing/dispensing a Class B controlled substance in Chelsea District Court on March 9, 2020. He was subsequently deported in August 2021.
However, Tejada Hernandez unlawfully reentered the United States sometime after his deportation. He was later convicted of possession to distribute Class A controlled substance and one count to distribute/dispense of a Class A controlled substance in Suffolk County Superior Court on Feb. 1, 2024. He is currently serving a three-year state prison sentence on those charges.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica Soto of the Major Crimes Unit, and the announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston.
Tejada Hernandez’s sentence serves as a warning to those who would seek to circumvent the law and reenter the United States after deportation. The sentence is a significant one, and reflects the seriousness with which the federal government takes these types of crimes.
The case also highlights the importance of cooperation between federal and state law enforcement agencies in combating crime and ensuring that those who break the law are held accountable.
