Nehemie Almonor, Wire Fraud, Virginia 2022

⏱ 2 min read

Nehemie Almonor, a 41-year-old woman from King George, Virginia, pleaded guilty to wire fraud for submitting timecards for the same hours at multiple government jobs. From May 2022 to at least April 2025, Almonor electronically submitted timecards certifying that she had performed full-time work during overlapping hours for multiple entities, including the U.S. Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the U.S. Air Force Reserves.

Almonor, a human resources specialist, would keep at least three work laptops open next to each other to falsely represent to her employers that she was online and working full-time solely for each of them. She defrauded her employers of at least $291,905 and applied to other government agencies claiming to be unemployed and available to start immediately.

The Transportation Security Administration’s Office of Law Enforcement/Investigations investigated the case. Almonor is scheduled to be sentenced on July 22 and faces up to 20 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine her sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Almonor’s scheme was uncovered after the TSA received multiple complaints that she was commonly unreachable during the hours she was certifying on her timecards. Her case highlights the risks of telework fraud and the importance of vigilant oversight in the workplace.
