Teriona Freemont, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Nebraska 2020

A 25-year-old woman from Macy, Nebraska, has been sentenced to 76 months in federal prison for her role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.

Teriona Freemont, along with co-conspirators Pablo Leyva and Chrystian Townsley, were traveling through Arizona in a truck on March 8, 2020, on their way to Mexico to engage in drug trafficking. During the traffic stop, officers in Arizona seized a Diamondback Arms, Inc., DB-15 rifle, which Freemont was prohibited from possessing due to her status as an unlawful user of methamphetamine and marijuana.

After the traffic stop, Freemont, Leyva, and Townsley continued their journey toward Mexico, entering the country and leaving their truck behind. The three individuals re-entered the United States on foot and were later picked up by another individual who drove them back to Nebraska.

On March 14, 2020, in Liberal, Kansas, an officer pulled over the vehicle, which was driven by Leyva, and located 5 cellophane-wrapped packages containing about 4 pounds of methamphetamine and 65 fentanyl pills. The drugs were intended for distribution.

Freemont, Leyva, and Townsley were transporting the drugs and were subsequently charged with conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Leyva and Townsley previously pleaded guilty to their charges and received sentences of 20 years and 15 years, respectively.

Freemont was sentenced to 76 months in federal prison, with no parole available in the federal system. After completing her term of imprisonment, she will begin a 5-year term of supervised release.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Kansas Highway Patrol, the United States Secret Service, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
