Thackerville Man Sentenced to 36 Months for Wire Fraud and Aggravated Identity Theft
MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – Robert Ashley Bond, age 34, of Thackerville, Oklahoma, was sentenced to a total of 36 months’ imprisonment for Conspiracy To Commit Wire Fraud and Aggravated Identity Theft.
The sentences, 12 months for Conspiracy To Commit Wire Fraud and 24 months for Aggravated Identity Theft, will be served consecutively, meaning Bond will spend a total of 36 months behind bars. The charges arose from an investigation by the Marietta Police Department, the Love County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and the United States Secret Service.
The indictment alleged that from April 2017 and continuing until June 23, 2017, Bond and others conspired to execute a scheme to defraud seven named victims and others, obtaining money and property through wire communications. The scheme was allegedly carried out through a series of false and fraudulent pretenses, representations, and promises.
On June 8, 2017, Bond allegedly used a means of identification belonging to another person without lawful authority during a felony violation, Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud.
United States Attorney Brian J. Kuester praised the diligent victims and local and federal law enforcement agencies for their role in bringing Bond to justice. “Identity thieves wreak havoc on the lives of their victims,” Kuester said. “Fortunately, due to watchful citizens and law enforcement agencies, this identity thief was caught and is being brought to justice for his crimes.”
The sentencing was carried out by the Honorable Ronald A. White, U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee. Assistant United States Attorney Rob Wallace represented the United States in the case. Bond will remain in custody pending transportation to a federal facility to serve his sentence.
