Gun and Drugs Bring Down Local Man

A Pittsburgh resident’s love of guns and pills has landed him 20 years behind bars. Thomas Clay Wade, 36, was sentenced in federal court to 240 months in prison for his role in violating federal firearms and narcotics laws.

According to court documents, Wade knowingly possessed a firearm and ammunition, as well as crack cocaine with the intent to distribute. As a felon, his actions were strictly forbidden.

Chief United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti handed down the sentence yesterday.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shardul S. Desai as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to prevent, deter, and prosecute gun crimes.

U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police for their investigation and work in bringing Wade to justice.

The successful prosecution of Wade serves as a reminder of the consequences of violating federal firearms and narcotics laws. It also highlights the importance of community partnerships in preventing and addressing gun violence.
