Kevin Dale Harlow, Child Pornography Possession, Colorado 2024

A Thornton man has been sentenced to 97 months in federal prison for possession of child pornography, according to federal authorities.

Kevin Dale Harlow, 55, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Wiley Y. Daniel after pleading guilty to the charges.

According to court documents, Harlow possessed 3,257 unique child pornography images and 316 unique child pornography videos.

The investigation, led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), began in 2013 when an undercover agent downloaded child pornography files from Harlow’s residence in Thornton.

Harlow was a member of a Lutheran Church and led a 6th grade boys’ confirmation class, investigators said.

“Children are victimized in the production of child pornography, and people who possess child pornography fuel that victimization,” said U.S. Attorney John Walsh. “The tough sentence handed down by the court in this case is further supported by the fact that this defendant was working closely with children and young people at the same time he was engaged in the collection of child pornography.”

Harlow was also ordered to pay $22,000 in restitution to the victims of his crime and register as a sex offender. He will serve 10 years on supervised release after his prison sentence.
