Crime Wave Hits New Kensington
A resident of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, has pleaded guilty to a federal narcotics charge, announced United States Attorney David J. Hickton.
Tremayne Carr, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of violating the federal narcotics laws before Senior United States District Judge Gustave Diamond.
The court was advised that on February 6, 2014, Carr attempted to possess with intent to distribute a quantity of cocaine.
According to the plea agreement, Judge Diamond scheduled sentencing for October 21, 2015, at 10 a.m. The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of $1,000,000, or both.
Assistant United States Attorney Leo M. Dillon is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Pennsylvania State Police.
In a related development, Carr has been ordered to be held in home detention pending sentencing.
The guilty plea marks another setback for cocaine traffickers in the region, and law enforcement officials are breathing a sigh of relief.
