His whereabouts remained unknown for nearly three weeks, until October 30, 2024, when the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force arrested him at his mother’s residence in Omaha. He surrendered without incident.

Murphy’s escape from federal custody is a serious offense, and he will serve a 15-month prison sentence as a result. He will also begin a 3-year term of supervised release after his release from prison. There is no parole in the federal system.
