A shocking act of violence in Omaha, Nebraska left a federal officer shaken and a Honduran man facing a possible 20-year prison sentence.
Marvin Aleman Zepeda, 37, was found guilty of forcibly assaulting, resisting, opposing, impeding, intimidating, or interfering with a federal officer after a two-day federal trial in Omaha.
US Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced the verdict, stating that Zepeda’s actions were a clear threat to the safety and well-being of law enforcement officers.
The incident occurred on June 10, 2025, at Glenn Valley Foods in Omaha, where law enforcement, including Deputy United States Marshals, were assisting with the execution of a court-authorized civil search warrant.
Despite repeated commands from law enforcement to come out and surrender, Zepeda refused to comply, leading to a tense standoff that lasted nearly 90 minutes.
As the Deputy United States Marshals approached Zepeda, giving him commands to show his hands, Zepeda instead armed himself with a box cutter, or utility knife, with an open blade.
Zepeda will be sentenced on March 13, 2026, at 9:00 AM, before Chief Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., in Omaha.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the United States Marshals Service, U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement, and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office assisted in securing Zepeda.
