Tampa, FL – In a chilling turn of justice, federal prosecutors have secured convictions against Lenard White and Sheldon Robinson for the cold-blooded contract killing of 17-year-old high school student I.S. The murder was plotted to silence the teenager after she reported a sexual assault. White, who sexually assaulted I.S., orchestrated the hit, while his cousin Robinson carried out the execution for $6,000.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office and ATF launched an immediate investigation that spanned over 70 search warrants. Their diligence led to the recovery of the murder weapon buried behind Robinson’s home six months after the crime. Despite White and Robinson’s attempts to obstruct justice by tampering with evidence and witnesses, they were ultimately brought to justice.
White, aged 37, and Robinson, 22, were found guilty on all charges including conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, premeditated first-degree murder, and obstruction of justice. They each face multiple mandatory life sentences, set for January 30, 2026. Third defendant Keshawn Woods has pleaded guilty to his involvement in the murder.
Assistant United States Attorneys Diego F. Novaes and Samantha Newman are leading the prosecution. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office and ATF were instrumental in the investigation, with significant support from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the State Attorney’s Office – Fifth Judicial Circuit.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the lengths some will go to prevent justice, but also highlights the dedication and success of law enforcement agencies in bringing such heinous acts to light.
