Vergon-Mayotte, Health Care Fraud, Indiana 2013
Kahley Vergon-Mayotte, 28, of Monticello, Indiana, has pleaded guilty to the felony offense of conspiracy to commit health care fraud in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana.
The charge was filed as a result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and the United States Department of Health and Human Services. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Diane Berkowitz.
Vergon-Mayotte’s guilty plea was accepted by District Judge Joseph Van Bokkelen. Sentencing has been set for January 8, 2014.
In a separate case, Jacalyn Selman, 54, of Kouts, Indiana, has pleaded guilty to the felony offense of embezzling mail. This charge was filed as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Selman’s sentencing has been set for January 30, 2014.
In another case, Evan Vanator, 23, of South Bend, Indiana, has pleaded guilty to the felony offense of possession of a firearm while being an illegal user of controlled substances. This charge was filed as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Vanator’s sentencing has been set for January 21, 2014.
Finally, Lorenzo Coben, 33, has pleaded guilty to the felony offense of using a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. This charge was filed as a result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Coben’s guilty plea was accepted by Magistrate Judge Christopher A. Nuechterlein. Sentencing will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
