Wei Fu, Distribution of Child Pornography, Pennsylvania 2024

A Northampton County man has been slapped with serious allegations of distributing child pornography, federal authorities announced today.

Wei Fu, 38, of Northampton County, PA, was indicted on a charge of distribution of child pornography, according to a statement from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Gerard M. Karam, the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, said the indictment alleges that Fu distributed child pornography on January 8, 2024 and January 9, 2024.

The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security-RAC Allentown and the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tatum R. Wilson is prosecuting the case.

Fu’s alleged crimes are part of a growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. To combat this, the federal government launched Project Safe Childhood in May 2006, a nationwide initiative to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children.

Under federal law, Fu faces up to 20 years in prison, with a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years. He also faces a term of supervised release following imprisonment and a fine.

Fu’s next court appearance was not immediately available. The federal sentencing guidelines will be used to determine the exact sentence he faces if convicted.
