Noel McFadden, 71, Sentenced to 30 Years for Sexually Exploiting a Minor
A Broken Arrow man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in the sexual exploitation of a child. Noel McFadden, 71, was sentenced by Chief District Judge Gregory K. Frizzell on February 16, 2018.
According to court documents, McFadden pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child in 2018. The charges stem from an incident in April 2017, during which McFadden knowingly coerced a minor under the age of 12 to take pictures of her genitals with a cellphone he had given her.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and CEOS, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
U.S. Attorney Shores praised the hard work of the FBI and the Broken Arrow police department in bringing McFadden to justice. Shores also acknowledged the courageous efforts of the two small children and their family, who stood up to McFadden and ended his abuse.
Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey A. Gallant handled the prosecution of this case. At sentencing, several relatives of the victim spoke about the harm inflicted by McFadden. One of his victims, a 9-year-old girl, made a powerful statement in open court, emphasizing that she was not a victim, but a strong survivor who stood up to McFadden.
As part of his sentence, McFadden must pay $18,365.94 in restitution. The charges in this case were the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Broken Arrow Police Department. The case highlights the importance of vigilance and cooperation in preventing and prosecuting child exploitation crimes.
