PITTSBURGH – In a stunning turn of events, Stanley Church, the alleged drug kingpin from West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, has been slammed with federal charges for distributing an array of illegal substances, including deadly fentanyl. United States Attorney Scott W. Brady made the chilling announcement today.
The 47-year-old is accused of possessing and planning to distribute quantities of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, MDMA, and Psilocyn mushrooms on March 17, 2017. The charges come with a heavy price tag: Church could face up to 20 years in federal prison and a million-dollar fine.
The grand jury’s one-count indictment against Church was returned on February 6 and unsealed today. Assistant United States Attorney Timothy M. Lanni will lead the government’s prosecution of this case.
Investigations by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Allegheny County Police Department played a crucial role in bringing Church to justice, according to officials. However, as per legal protocol, an indictment is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The severity of the offense and any prior criminal history will determine the actual sentence imposed on Church under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines. But for now, the man known locally as ‘The Narcotics Kingpin’ faces a grim future behind bars if convicted.
