Martinsburg, WV – In a fight to curb gun violence, the U.S. Attorney’s Office and ATF are sharing their expertise with West Virginia law enforcement.
Today, a one-day training on firearms intelligence and trends kicked off at Jefferson High School in Shenandoah Junction, offering 8 hours of education credits for participating officers.
The course, led by the ATF and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, will cover the latest tools and techniques for investigating and prosecuting firearm-related crimes, including firearms tracing, emerging technologies, and crime gun trends.
U.S. Attorney Matthew L. Harvey commended the ATF for keeping law enforcement on the cutting edge of firearms tracing and technology, saying it’s crucial to solving gun crimes and preventing further violence.
ATF Special Agent in Charge John Nokes added, “With effective firearms investigations, we can ensure that those committing violent crimes are held accountable.”
