WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – The gritty streets of Wheeling were recently hit by a major blow in the fight against drug trafficking. Steven Aldridge, a 27-year-old local, has admitted his role in a massive Ohio Valley drug operation involving deadly fentanyl and cocaine.
Aldridge faced justice today when he entered a guilty plea to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute at least 40 grams of fentanyl and over 500 grams of cocaine. The court documents paint a chilling picture of a trafficking ring that stretched from the neon lights of Las Vegas, Nevada, all the way to the heartland of the Ohio Valley.
Should Aldridge’s guilty plea translate into a sentence, he could be staring at anywhere from five to forty years in federal prison. The severity of his punishment will be determined by a federal district court judge who considers the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other relevant factors.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Carly Nogay, whose unwavering dedication to justice has once again brought a trafficker to heel.
The Ohio Valley Drug Task Force, Marshall County Drug Task Force, Hancock-Brooke-Weirton Drug Task Force, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, West Virginia State Police, Wheeling Police Department, Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, and the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office have all been instrumental in this investigation. The collaborative efforts of these agencies, which are all HIDTA-funded initiatives, have once again proven their effectiveness in tackling organized crime.
U.S. Magistrate Judge James P. Mazzone presided over today’s hearing, ensuring that justice was served with the utmost professionalism.
