Wheeling Man Gets 12 Months for Selling Heroin Near Playground
A Wheeling man has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for his role in a heroin distribution ring that targeted an Ohio County playground. Tysaun A. Pugh, also known as “Chubbs,” was sentenced in federal court yesterday after pleading guilty to one count of “Distribution of Heroin within 1,000 Feet of a Protected Location” in July 2018.
Pugh, 20, admitted to selling heroin near Jensen Playground in January 2018. The playground is located in a neighborhood with a high concentration of families and children, making it a protected location under federal law.
The case against Pugh was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Ohio Valley Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen L. Vogrin is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
Pugh’s sentencing was presided over by Senior U.S. District Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr. The judge handed down a 12-month sentence, which Pugh will serve in a federal prison. The sentence is the result of a guilty plea entered by Pugh in July 2018.
