WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – In a chilling admission of guilt, Jeremy Crinkey, 43, from Wheeling, has confessed to possession of child pornography. The U.S. Attorney Bill Powell revealed the disturbing charges against the repeat offender.
Crinkey, whose previous conviction in 2012 for possession of child pornography haunts him once more, has now admitted to having images of child pornography in his possession as recently as March 2020 in Ohio County. This brazen act of exploitation adds a heinous chapter to his criminal history.
With the severity of his crime and his previous conviction weighing heavily, Crinkey faces a minimum sentence of 10 years and up to 20 years behind bars. The judge will also consider imposing a fine that could reach $250,000 according to Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Perri, who represents the government in this harrowing matter. Both the U.S. Probation Office and the FBI have been instrumental in the investigation.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide effort to safeguard children from online predators. The initiative coordinates federal, state, and local resources to track down and bring to justice those who exploit children over the internet. U.S. Magistrate Judge James P. Mazzone oversaw the arraignment in this case, which serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against online child exploitation.
