BOSTON, MA – In a bold statement, U.S. Attorney Rachael S. Rollins has made it clear that Massachusetts will not tolerate white supremacist activity. ‘Every single person deserves to live their life fully and authentically as who they are,’ she said. ‘But, if your authentic self is a bigot that wants to harm, humiliate and terrorize people, you are not welcome here.’
Rollins emphasized that there is no hierarchy when it comes to who is entitled to a full and authentic life, stating that ‘we all are.’ She highlighted the city’s long history of standing up to hate and injustice, saying, ‘We don’t hide behind masks. When we see inequity and harm, we look the culprit in their eyes and demand that it stops.’
Rollins announced that the public will have a dedicated number to call in with tips about white supremacist groups, stating, ‘If the public has any troubling or concerning information about members of white supremacist groups, we ask that you notify your local police departments or a member of law enforcement.’
The U.S. Attorney also commended the swift response of Mayor Wu and the Boston Police Department, praising their zero-tolerance policy for white supremacists or any potential racially motivated violent extremists in Massachusetts. ‘As was shown by the swift response of Mayor Wu and the Boston Police Department this weekend, there is a zero tolerance policy for white supremacists or any potential racially motivated violent extremist in Massachusetts.’
Rollins made it clear that she stands ready to deploy federal time and resources to assist state, local, and tribal partners in effectuating arrests and prosecutions. She urged the public to come forward with any information, stating, ‘We need to expose these cowards.’
The U.S. Attorney’s office will be working closely with local law enforcement to combat white supremacist activity in Massachusetts. As Rollins stated, ‘If it doesn’t stop, we use every means at our disposal – legislatively, through the courts, and with community organizing – to end it.’
