Upper Darby Man Gets 22 Years for Child Abuse

A Delaware County man has been sentenced to 22 years and one month in prison for abusing a three-year-old child and recording the abuse to produce pornography.

David Carbonaro, 28, of Upper Darby, PA, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Chad F. Kenney for numerous child exploitation offenses.

Court documents revealed that Carbonaro conducted ‘photo shoots’ of Minor #1, a three-year-old child, in sexualized poses and directed his co-defendant Kayla Parker to sexually abuse the child for his viewing pleasure.

Law enforcement discovered the evidence while investigating Carbonaro for distributing child pornography over the internet. A search warrant executed at Carbonaro’s residence yielded thousands of images of child pornography, including nine images depicting the sexual abuse of Minor #1.

Acting United States Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams stated, ‘This is a truly horrifying case. Sexually exploiting and abusing a three-year-old child is simply too awful for most people to even think about.’

Strong law enforcement collaboration between the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General resulted in justice for the defendant and his victims.

Attorney General Josh Shapiro added, ‘Children are among the most vulnerable members of our Commonwealth, and thanks to the strong communication and collaboration with our federal and state law enforcement partners, we were able to hold the defendant accountable for his abhorrent crimes.’

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Josh A. Davison.

Carbonaro was also ordered to pay $38,000 in restitution as part of his sentence.
