WILMINGTON, Del. – Darius Matylewich, a Delaware predator, has been sentenced to 240 months in federal prison for his monstrous crime of coercing an 11-year-old New Jersey resident into traveling to Delaware for sexual activity.
Acting U.S. Attorney Dylan J. Steinberg announced the sentence on July 2, 2025, emphasizing that Matylewich’s actions represent a heinous attack on the most vulnerable members of society. The Wayne Township, New Jersey Police Department (“WTPD”) played a pivotal role in the investigation, which led to Matylewich’s arrest.
According to court documents, Matylewich met the young victim online through video games and social media. He coerced her into performing sexual acts for him, producing child pornography in the process. His sinister behavior went beyond mere communication; he secretly recorded and stored videos of her without her knowledge.
The FBI, working alongside WTPD and the New Castle County Police Department, swiftly recovered the victim and apprehended Matylewich. Steinberg commended the cooperation between local, state, and federal agencies in ensuring justice was served. ‘This sentence sends a clear message: those who harm the community’s most vulnerable will be held fully accountable,’ said Steinberg.
FBI Baltimore Acting Special Agent in Charge Amanda M. Koldjeski echoed these sentiments, stating that stopping predators like Matylewich remains a top priority for the FBI and its partners. ‘Let this sentence be a warning to others seeking to take advantage of kids through online means,’ said Koldjeski.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kevin P. Pierce and Michelle Thurstlic-O’Neill, with investigative efforts led by the FBI’s Delaware Violent Crime and Safe Streets Taskforce. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Wayne Township New Jersey Police Department, New Castle County Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service also played critical roles in bringing this predator to justice.
