William D. Emery, Child Pornography, Ohio 2012

Sheffield Lake Man Charged with Child Pornography

A 28-year-old from Sheffield Village, Ohio, has been charged with a serious crime. William D. Emery is accused of receiving, distributing, and possessing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. This is according to Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

The indictment alleges that from August 16, 2012, to August 19, 2012, Emery knowingly received and distributed computer files containing child pornography. These files allegedly contained visual depictions of real minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Additionally, the indictment charges that on December 14, 2012, Emery possessed a computer and an external hard drive containing child pornography.

Emery’s sentencing will be determined by the court, considering the Federal Sentencing Guidelines. This takes into account factors such as his prior criminal record, his role in the offense, and the unique characteristics of the violation.

Assistant United States Attorney Michael A. Sullivan is prosecuting the case. The Elyria Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the matter.

An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Emery is entitled to a fair trial, where the government must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
