Kyle Man Charged With Assault
A 39-year-old Kyle, South Dakota man has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.
According to the indictment, William Lawrence Montileaux, 39, was found guilty of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. He was initially indicted by a federal grand jury on January 23, 2013.
Montileaux appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on February 1, 2013, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years’ imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine.
The investigation into the assault is being conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura Shattuck is prosecuting the case.
Montileaux was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has been set for April 9, 2013.
The charge is merely an accusation, and Montileaux is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
