Man Guilty of Meth Conspiracy in Williamson County
Marion, Illinois – John S. Andrews, 30, of Marion, has pleaded guilty to a one-count indictment charging conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. The United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, announced today that Andrews entered his guilty plea on June 25, 2014.
The offense occurred between August 2012 and December 2012, in Jackson County. Evidence presented at the plea hearing established that Andrews and others obtained pseudoephedrine together for use in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Andrews, who is currently incarcerated in the Illinois Department of Corrections, is set for sentencing on the federal offense on October 30, 2014.
Andrews faces a term of imprisonment of up to 20 years, to be followed by 3 years’ supervised release, and a $1,000,000 fine. The investigation was conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Murphysboro Police Department.
The case is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Amanda A. Robertson for prosecution. We will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
