Windsor Man Sentenced for Child Pornography

A 26-year-old man from Windsor, Vermont has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for possession of child pornography.

Gerard Mascola was sentenced on April 1, 2014, by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Christina Reiss for possessing and sharing child pornography over the internet.

According to court records, Mascola was detected sharing child pornography by special agents from the Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). The agents were able to identify and locate Mascola using his internet protocol address.

Mascola was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 18, 2013, and on December 16, 2013, he pled guilty to possession of child pornography. He was released on his own recognizance pending his sentencing.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations. United States Attorney Tristram J. Coffin commends the agency for its work. He was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nancy J. Creswell.

Mascola was represented by Douglas G. Kallen of Bergeron, Paradis & Fitzpatrick, LLP. The defendant was sentenced to serve 5 years of supervised release at the conclusion of his prison term.
