Witman Jacquelyn, Marijuana Conspiracy, New York 2011

BUFFALO, N.Y. – A former Buffalo woman has been sentenced to time served, six months home detention and two years supervised release for her role in a marijuana distribution conspiracy.

According to U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr., Jacquelyn Witman, 32, was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, marijuana.

The charges stem from an investigation that found Witman conspired with others to distribute marijuana between 2010 and February 2011. On February 21, 2011, she attempted to board a flight at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport with $21,150 in U.S. currency, which she admitted was the proceeds of marijuana sales.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized approximately $1,000,000 in U.S. currency.

The sentencing comes after several other defendants were convicted and are awaiting sentencing, including Shane Grafman of Phoenix, Arizona, and Elijah Chaffino of Tempe, Arizona. Charges are still pending against defendants Jordan Ali, formerly of Alden, N.Y, Jason Nati and Gabriel Rodriguez, both of Buffalo, N.Y.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, the Internal Revenue Service, the United States Postal Service Inspection Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Buffalo Police Department, the Erie County Sheriff’s Department, the Niagara Frontier Transit Authority, the Tempe, Arizona Police Department, the Apache County, Arizona Sheriff’s Department, and the Oklahoma State Police.

In addition to her sentence, Witman must serve two years supervised release. The exact date of the crime is not specified, but the investigation took place between 2010 and February 2011. Witman was charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, marijuana. The total amount of U.S. currency seized during the investigation was $1,000,000, and Witman was found with $21,150. She was sentenced to time served, six months home detention and two years supervised release.
