A 72-year-old Ludlow man, Christopher Barbaro, has been charged with threatening the father of a victim in a pending federal sex trafficking case in Boston, Massachusetts. The alleged threats occurred between November 2024 and December 2025, while Barbaro’s grandson was under investigation for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking of a minor. Barbaro allegedly sent a text message and left voicemails threatening the victim’s father, calling him a ‘rat’ and stating he would ‘beat the s*** out of him’.
The investigation into Barbaro’s grandson began in the fall of 2024, when government investigators interviewed multiple people, including one of the victims and the victim’s father. After these interviews, Barbaro allegedly began sending threatening messages to the victim’s father. The messages included a text stating ‘You and your kid are a couple of f***** rats’ and a voicemail saying ‘You c***sucker. I’m gonna get ahold of you at your f****** office, you prick. Be ready!’
Barbaro was arrested on March 27, 2026, and made an initial appearance before U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Paul G. Levenson in federal court in Boston. He was released on conditions. During an interview with federal agents in March 2026, Barbaro allegedly confirmed that he made the threatening communications and stated that he knew where the victim’s father lived and worked.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to protect witnesses and victims in sex trafficking cases. The charges against Barbaro demonstrate the seriousness with which authorities take witness tampering and retaliation.
