A Wheeling Island woman admitted to distributing heroin near an Ohio County school, according to federal authorities.
Carla Webb Daniels, 57, of Wheeling Island, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to one count of ‘Distribution of Heroin Within 1,000 Feet of a Protected Location.’
The conviction stems from Daniels’ distribution of heroin on February 16, 2017, near Wheeling Central Catholic High School in Wheeling.
Daniels faces up to 40 years in prison and a $2,000,000 fine for her crime. Her actual sentence will be determined by the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, taking into account the seriousness of the offense and her prior criminal history, if any.
The case against Daniels was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen L. Vogrin on behalf of the government.
The Ohio Valley Drug & Violent Crime Task Force and the Marshall County Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, both HIDTA-funded initiatives, investigated the case.
The guilty plea was accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge James E. Seibert.
