Woodbridge Man Sentenced for Child Pornography
Alexandria, VA – In a disturbing case of online exploitation, Christopher Craft, a 41-year-old resident of Woodbridge, has pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography. The plea was accepted by U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis, III, on July 8. Craft now faces a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison and a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
According to the statement of facts filed with the plea agreement, from July 25, 2014, through Oct. 8, 2014, Craft used a peer-to-peer file sharing program to receive and collect child pornography videos and images, including videos of children as young as 5 years-old being sexually abused. The investigation revealed that Craft’s child pornography collection included 480 images and 111 videos of children being sexually exploited, including images and videos depicting sadistic or masochistic conduct.
The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Dana J. Boente, and FBI Assistant Director in Charge, Paul M. Abbate, made the announcement after the plea was accepted. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kellen S. Dwyer and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Claffee are prosecuting the case.
Craft’s actions are a stark reminder of the dangers of online activities that can lead to the exploitation of children. While the case is ongoing, it is essential to acknowledge the severity of the crime and the need for continued vigilance in preventing such offenses.
