YAKIMA, WASHINGTON – In a stunning crackdown on the Yakama Nation and Yakima Valley’s drug trade, 13 alleged kingpins have been hit with federal charges following a prolonged joint investigation. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington announced that the defendants are facing more than a dozen counts related to armed drug trafficking.

The operation, spanning from 2024 until June 2025, was spearheaded by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Bureau of Indian Affairs, with significant contributions from local and tribal law enforcement agencies. This joint effort aimed to dismantle the operations of violent drug distributors on both sides of the reservation.

Acting U.S. Attorney Stephanie Van Marter underscored the severity of the situation: “Fentanyl continues to be one of the most dangerous substances threatening our communities.” She praised the efforts of law enforcement, noting that these efforts have made families safer today.

The seizure was nothing short of massive, totaling 7,100 pounds of marijuana, 336 pounds of methamphetamine, nearly 25 pounds of cocaine, and a staggering amount of fentanyl – 7 pounds of powder and 4,704 pills. Additionally, $22,512 in drug proceeds and 12 firearms were recovered.

Angel Navarro Aleman, aged 55, faces charges including Distribution of Methamphetamine, while Jose Francisco Aguirre has already pleaded guilty to the same offense. Jesus Caudillo was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of Drug Trafficking. The investigation is expected to yield further charges against other individuals identified.

Authorities highlighted that each indicted individual remains presumed innocent until proven guilty, in accordance with due process. This operation marks a significant victory for law enforcement agencies working tirelessly to combat drug trafficking and keep communities safe.
