SPOKANE, WA – The Eastern District of Washington is grappling with a surge in repeat offender crime as five individuals, all previously deported to Mexico, face federal charges for illegally re-entering the United States. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced the indictments this week, detailing a pattern of criminal behavior among the defendants, raising serious questions about border security and public safety.
The charges, a violation of 8 U.S.C. § 1326, carry significant penalties beyond typical immigration consequences. Federal prosecutors emphasize that this isn’t simply a civil matter; it’s a criminal offense intended to deter future unlawful entry and protect American citizens. According to authorities, these individuals weren’t just seeking a new life – they were actively circumventing the law, bringing their histories of violence and disregard for the legal system with them.
Pablo Carmona-Carmona, 47, a Mexican national, is already facing disturbing new allegations. Arrested by the Yakima Police Department on October 31, 2024, Carmona-Carmona is charged with Child Molestation in the 1st and 2nd Degrees. This isn’t his first brush with the law; he’s been deported to Mexico twice before, and previously convicted of DUI in California. Rodolfo Cortes-Sorroza, 38, also a Mexican national, adds another layer to the grim picture. He’s a repeat offender for illegally re-entering the U.S. after deportation, alongside convictions for Assault and Burglary. On July 26, 2025, he was apprehended in Klickitat County on warrants for Residential Burglary and Failure to Appear.
The indictment further reveals Alfredo Ventura-Gutierrez (a/k/a “Jose Ventura Dias”), 48, another Mexican national, with a disturbing history of domestic violence and DUI convictions in California. He’s been deported twice before, but was arrested by the Wapato Police Department on August 3, 2024, facing charges of Rape in the 2nd and 3rd Degrees, and two counts of violating an order of protection. Carlos Antonio Moran-Arce, 52, a Mexican national, is also accused of re-entering the country illegally after prior deportations and state convictions for theft and battery. Yakima Police arrested him on April 24, 2025, for Hit and Run and Threatening to Kill. Finally, Raul Partida-Farias, 50, previously convicted of Alien in Possession of a Firearm and assault in Washington state, was deported once before and is currently facing DUI and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle charges in Benton County.
“These indictments demonstrate our unwavering commitment to protecting the public from individuals who exploit our immigration system to commit crimes,” stated a source within the U.S. Attorney’s Office. “Prosecuting these cases sends a clear message: illegally re-entering the United States after deportation is a serious offense with serious consequences.” The investigations were spearheaded by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), with prosecution led by Assistant United States Attorney Letitia A. Sikes.
