Three Indicted for Illegal Reentry into the United States
Francisco Raul Yanez-Botello, 42, a Mexican citizen, was last deported on July 31, 2012, but was recently found in Brecksville, Ohio, according to the indictment.
Yanez-Botello is charged with one count of illegal reentry into the United States, a felony offense that carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison.
Pedro Aceves-Barajas, 26, a Mexican citizen, was last deported on June 21, 2016, but was recently found in North Olmstead, Ohio, according to the indictment. Aceves-Barajas is also charged with one count of illegal reentry into the United States.
Jorge Luis Ortiz, 41, a Dominican citizen, was deported in 2011 after being convicted of an aggravated felony, but was recently found in Brooklyn, Ohio, according to the indictment. Ortiz is charged with one count of illegal reentry into the United States.
The cases are not related and are being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Karrie D. Howard, Elliot D. Morrison, and Karrie D. Howard. The investigations were led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, United States Border Patrol, and United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial, in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio is committed to holding individuals accountable for violating federal laws. If convicted, the defendant’s sentence will be determined by the court after review of factors unique to this case, including the defendant’s prior criminal record, if any, the defendant’s role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violation.
