James Andrew Tallon, a 42-year-old from Ypsilanti, Michigan, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing thousands of images and videos of child sexually abusive material. The disturbing content, which included infants and toddlers, was shared with others on every continent except Antarctica between September 2023 and his arrest in February 2025. The FBI’s investigation uncovered the horrific scope of Tallon’s crimes, which were perpetrated online.
The FBI’s Southeast Michigan Trafficking and Exploitation Crimes Task Force worked tirelessly to bring Tallon to justice, protecting children from further victimization. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Zachary Zurek and Sean King. The sentence reflects the severity of the crimes, with receipt and distribution of child pornography each carrying a mandatory minimum sentence of five years for first-time offenders.
Tallon’s actions have been widely condemned, with Jennifer Runyan, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Detroit Field Office, stating that those who sexually exploit children can expect to lose their freedom. The FBI will continue to use every available resource to identify, investigate, and bring to justice anyone who exploits children.
The sentence serves as a warning to others who would engage in similar activities, and highlights the importance of law enforcement efforts to protect vulnerable populations. As the FBI continues to combat child exploitation, it is clear that those who commit such heinous crimes will be held accountable.
