HOUSTON – A 55-year-old Pasadena resident has been sentenced to federal prison for receipt of child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei.
Bo Rain Wells, a registered sex offender due to his 2006 conviction of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Harris County, pleaded guilty July 14 and was handed a sentence of 180 months by U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen. Following his prison term, he will be required to serve 25 years on supervised release.
“People who view child sex abuse material create a demand for the sexual exploitation of defenseless children,” said Ganjei. “Watching child pornography is therefore not a victimless offense. The Southern District of Texas is determined to stamp out this sickening conduct.”
Wells’ sentencing comes after law enforcement executed a federal search warrant at his residence in Pasadena on July 26, 2024, where they seized several electronic devices containing 39 terabytes of pornography. The files included videos of prepubescent minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
The investigation was conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations Galveston, with assistance from the Pearland Police Department and Houston-Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Hileman prosecuted the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation.
