WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – Frank L. Morrison, 59, of Braddock Hills, Pennsylvania, was handed a 120-month federal prison sentence for his role in the daring Wheeling bank heist.
The brazen criminal struck at United Bank in Elm Grove last September, making off with $4,200 before bolting on foot. Morrison discarded his face mask and other paraphernalia into a nearby trash bin, but law enforcement was quick to pounce. The discarded items were recovered, leading to DNA evidence that matched Morrison.
Morrison’s criminal history is long and violent, including previous convictions for armed bank robbery, robbery, and access device fraud.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Clayton Reid and Carly Nogay led the prosecution against Morrison, ensuring justice was served on behalf of the government.
The investigation into the crime was a collaborative effort, involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the West Virginia State Police, and the Wheeling Police Department.
U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided over the sentencing hearing, ensuring that Morrison faced the full weight of the law for his criminal actions.
