Defendant’s Guilty Plea Marks End of Investigation
Sandra Renee Keith, a 34-year-old resident of Hammond, Louisiana, has pled guilty to making false statements to a federal agent.
According to court records, on May 6, 2013, DEA agents knocked on Keith’s door with an arrest warrant for Michael D. Brumfield. Keith informed agents that Brumfield was not at her apartment but was staying elsewhere, when in truth and fact, as Keith well knew, Brumfield was hiding in her apartment.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Julia K. Evans.
Upon sentencing scheduled for January 8, 2014, Keith faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 5 years, a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment, and a $100 special assessment.
