Richmond, VA – March 17, 1921 – In a shocking turn of events, two young men from Alexandria are serving two-year sentences on the state convict road after being convicted of arson. Clark Herman and Nyve (likely a misspelling of ‘Nye’) took the blame for a string of fires that ravaged the city, including a blaze that destroyed an old shanty in the suburbs. According to eyewitnesses, a group of men from the Alexandria fire company allegedly set the fire in order to collect insurance money.
