Brandon Dunn, a 20-year-old New Orleans man, is behind bars after pleading guilty to a string of serious charges.
According to court documents, Dunn conspired to distribute and intended to distribute marijuana, a Class 1 felony punishable by up to life imprisonment. He was also found guilty of possessing a machinegun, a serious federal offense that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
The charges against Dunn stem from an ongoing investigation by the DEA into a large-scale marijuana trafficking operation in the New Orleans area.
As part of his plea deal, Dunn will face a minimum of 5 years in federal prison and a maximum of 20 years for the conspiracy charge. He will also receive a 5-year sentence for the machinegun possession charge, to run concurrently.
The court will determine Dunn’s final sentence at a hearing scheduled for May 1, 2026.
