Glens Falls Man Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Ring

ALBANY, NEW YORK – Norbert Morgan, a 54-year-old registered sex offender from Glens Falls, New York, has pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography and violating the terms of his supervised release for prior child exploitation offenses.

Morgan admitted to using social networking applications to distribute numerous videos and images of child pornography between February and August 2023. Federal agents seized over 600 images of child pornography during a search of his apartment. He has been detained since his arrest on August 30, 2023.

Morgan’s crimes are a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by child predators in our communities. ‘The exploitation of children for profit and sexual gratification is a heinous crime that has no place in our society,’ said Carla B. Freedman, United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York.

As part of his plea agreement, Morgan faces a minimum of 15 years and up to 40 years in prison on his guilty plea. He also faces an additional term of up to 2 years in prison for violating the terms of his supervised release. Morgan may also be ordered to pay restitution to the victims of his offenses and forfeit the device used in the offenses.

The investigation into Morgan’s crimes was led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child exploitation. Assistant United States Attorney Benjamin S. Clark is prosecuting the case.

Morgan’s sentencing is scheduled for September 19, 2024, before United States District Judge Anne M. Nardacci. As a convicted sex offender, Morgan will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

Project Safe Childhood is a Department of Justice initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child exploitation and abuse. The initiative brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
