Marcos Gonzalez-Reyes, Child Sex Abuse Material Distribution, California 2023

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Vallejo resident Marcos Gonzalez-Reyes, 43, has been unsealed today by a federal grand jury in California on charges of distributing and possessing child sexual abuse material. U.S. Attorney Eric Grant confirmed the allegations against Gonzalez-Reyes.

Court documents reveal that Gonzalez-Reyes utilized eMule, a peer-to-peer software client, to disseminate hundreds of explicit images of minors to undercover agents over just three days in December 2024. Following this investigation, law enforcement executed a search warrant at his residence, where they seized thousands more images depicting children, including toddlers, engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The Solano County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation collaborated to bring this case to light. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sam Stefanki will be handling the prosecution.

Should Gonzalez-Reyes be convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for distribution, as well as an additional 10 years and a similar fine for possession of child sexual abuse material. Sentencing, however, is at the discretion of the court.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative that seeks to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. For more information on this initiative, please visit www.usdoj.gov/psc.
