GRIMY NEWS ALERT: In a massive crackdown on fentanyl trafficking in Providence, Carols Molina, 35, has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute over 400 grams of the deadly substance. The Providence resident was caught with 1,503 fentanyl-laced pills and more than 411.75 grams of powder during a DEA-authorized search in November 2022.
Molina’s arrest followed intensive surveillance by DEA agents and Drug Task Force officers, who observed him making multiple sales of counterfeit prescription pills laced with fentanyl to an individual. Following the transactions, authorities seized a total of 2,416 pills.
Set for sentencing on December 2, 2025, Molina faces a federal judge’s decision based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stacey A. Erickson is handling the prosecution, with the investigation led by the Rhode Island DEA Drug Task Force.
United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom announced the charges against Molina, emphasizing the gravity of his actions and the threat fentanyl poses to public safety. ‘The illegal trafficking of fentanyl continues to pose a significant risk to communities across the nation,’ she said.
Molina’s guilty plea is yet another example of law enforcement’s efforts to combat the opioid crisis gripping Rhode Island and the country at large. The sentence he receives will serve as a stern warning to those who think they can profit from selling deadly substances like fentanyl.
The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case closely, ensuring that justice is served in this chilling instance of drug trafficking.
