PROVIDENCE – In a stunning turn of events, Carl D. Montague, 37, from Rhode Island, faces federal charges for a series of chilling threats against the highest offices in the United States. According to Acting Rhode Island United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom, Montague has been indicted by a federal grand jury on counts of threatening to take the life of President Trump and to kill or injure Attorney General Pamela Bondi and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.
Bloom emphasized that the charges are merely accusations, with Montague being presumed innocent until proven guilty. The evidence against Montague includes a June 27, 2025, posting on Truth Social, where he reportedly made a profanity-laced threat to shoot and kill the President, Attorney General Bondi, and Deputy Chief of Staff Miller.
Montague was previously released with GPS monitoring after his initial appearance following a criminal complaint. His arraignment date has yet to be scheduled.
The Assistant United States Attorney Dulce Donovan is handling the prosecution of this case, which has been a collaborative effort between the FBI, the United States Secret Service, and the Providence Police Department.
