Mission Man Sentenced for Assault by Strangulation and Suffocation
Pierre, South Dakota – In a shocking turn of events, a 29-year-old man from Mission, South Dakota, has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for Assault by Strangulation and Suffocation. Alexander Brave, 29, was convicted of this heinous crime in a federal court in Pierre, South Dakota.
The crime took place in October 2021 in Todd County, South Dakota, where Brave assaulted his intimate partner by strangling and suffocating her. This disturbing act of violence has left many in the community reeling.
Brave was indicted by a federal grand jury in August 2022 and pleaded guilty on December 7, 2022. The conviction stems from this conduct that occurred in October 2021.
As a result of the conviction, Brave has been sentenced to two years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. He has also been ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
