Anita M. Kenyon, Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine, South Dakota 2024

A Harrison, South Dakota woman was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for her role in a methamphetamine conspiracy.

Anita M. Kenyon, 41, was sentenced in a federal court in Sioux Falls on April 15, 2024, for her conviction of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance.

Kenyon’s co-conspirator, Deena Lee Rodriguez, 43, of Sacramento, California, was sentenced on May 25, 2023, to eight years and one month in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

The sentencing was the result of an investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation. According to the indictment, Rodriguez obtained methamphetamine in California and sent packages containing the substance to Kenyon in South Dakota.

One of the suspicious packages was seized by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and later searched. Investigators found that Kenyon and Rodriguez were involved in distributing approximately three quarters of a pound of methamphetamine.

Kenyon was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund as part of her sentence. She was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service after sentencing.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Hodges prosecuted the case. The indictment against Kenyon and Rodriguez was returned by a federal grand jury in August of 2022. Rodriguez pleaded guilty on March 14, 2023, while Kenyon pleaded guilty on July 19, 2023.

Kenyon’s sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release. Rodriguez’s sentence will also be followed by five years of supervised release. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation were the investigative agencies involved in the case.
