Anthony Andrews, Conspiring to Distribute Fentanyl, Pennsylvania 2021

A Johnstown man has plead guilty to conspiring to distribute fentanyl, a highly addictive and deadly opioid.

Anthony Andrews, 41, faced a charge of violating federal narcotics laws, according to a statement from United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung.

Andrews pleaded guilty to a lesser included offense at Count One of the Superseding Indictment before Senior United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson. The crime is alleged to have taken place from April 2019 to July 2021.

As part of the guilty plea, Andrews admitted to conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a quantity of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl.

Andrews faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of $1,000,000, or both. The actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Andrews’ sentencing is scheduled for January 16, 2023.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Laurel Highlands Resident Agency and Homeland Security Investigations, among other agencies.

This prosecution is a result of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation, which uses a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach to disrupt and dismantle high-level drug traffickers and money launderers.
