Camden Man Pleads Guilty to Gun Trafficking Conspiracy

CAMDEN, N.J. – In a shocking turn of events, Anthony Gilmore, a 25-year-old man from Lawnside, New Jersey, has pleaded guilty to conspiring to traffic guns from South Carolina to New Jersey, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

Gilmore, a/k/a “Tone,” admitted to illegally possessing firearms and selling 22 guns without a license, a serious crime that carries a maximum potential penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court, between April 8, 2013, and July 8, 2014, Gilmore conspired with four others to sell 22 firearms on several occasions, for profit and without a license. The 22 firearms included handguns, shotguns, and an assault rifle.

The investigation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and was a result of a collaborative effort between the ATF, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and local law enforcement agencies, including the Winslow Township and Clementon police departments.

Gilmore pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to deal firearms without a license and one count of possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon. Sentencing is scheduled for March 23, 2015.

The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Smith of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Camden. Defense counsel for Gilmore is Assistant Federal Public Defender Christopher O’Malley Esq.
