PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The gritty streets of Arnold, Pennsylvania have been witness to a grim milestone as Kevin Watson, 36, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for his role in the trafficking of deadly fentanyl and heroin.
Watson’s journey through the criminal underworld hit a new nadir when he faced charges for possession with the intent to distribute an alarming 400 grams of fentanyl and 100 grams of heroin. The court heard details of Watson’s brazen attempt to evade law enforcement on April 26, 2019, when he led police on a high-speed chase that topped out at 115 mph, leaving a young child unattended in his vehicle during the chaos.
The Pennsylvania State Police were quick to act, obtaining a search warrant for Watson’s vehicle, which yielded a substantial amount of the deadly mixture worth over $100,000. Watson’s criminal history, already marred by three previous drug trafficking convictions, only adds to the severity of this offense, particularly considering he was on parole at the time.
United States District Judge W. Scott Hardy has set January 8, 2026, as the date for sentencing, where Watson could face a sentence ranging from 10 years to life in prison, along with a fine that could reach $10 million. Assistant United States Attorneys Kelly M. Locher and Barbara K. Doolittle will see this case through to its conclusion.
Watson’s arrest is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a collaborative initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence, making neighborhoods safer for all. The Pennsylvania State Police and Drug Enforcement Administration played pivotal roles in the investigation that led to his prosecution.
The grim reality of this case underscores the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Pennsylvania. As the nation watches, it is clear that justice will be served for those who peddle death on our streets.
