Arthur Henrique Silva, 34, Sentenced to 4 Years for Selling Firearms in Alabama

BOSTON – In a shocking case of firearms trafficking, Brazilian national Arthur Henrique Silva, 34, of Brazil, has been sentenced to four years in prison for selling 11 firearms, including one equipped with a large capacity magazine and another with an obliterated serial number.

According to court documents, Silva was arrested in February 2023 and charged with one count of selling firearms without a license. He pleaded guilty to the charge in August 2023.

U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama, Prim Faustin, praised the work of law enforcement agencies that led to Silva’s arrest and conviction. “This case demonstrates our commitment to combating firearms trafficking and ensuring public safety,” Faustin said.

During the sentencing hearing, the court was told that Silva had sold the firearms to an undercover agent over a period of several months. The firearms included a 9mm pistol with a large capacity magazine and a semi-automatic rifle with an obliterated serial number.

Assistant U.S. Attorney, John P. Flynn, who prosecuted the case, said that Silva’s actions put countless lives at risk. “The sale of firearms without a license is a serious offense that can have devastating consequences,” Flynn said.

Silva’s sentence includes four years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and $100 in special assessments.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
